1. Application Period

You can apply for a UK student visa up to three months before your course start date and visas are normally processed within three weeks.

It should be noted here that many friends are confused about the relationship between "visa" and "BRP/biometric information card". After getting their passports, they panicked when they found that their visa was only valid for one month. The visa showing the full period of stay in the UK will be replaced by a temporary visa page with a validity period of 30 days (that is, the visa you will get at that time). The purpose of a temporary visa is to allow you to travel to the UK within its validity period and to go to a designated post office to collect your biometric information card within 10 days of arriving in the UK. The biometric information card is a certificate for the cardholder to work, study and use public services in the UK. If you obtain a temporary visa and cannot use it within its validity period相关图片

2. Visa Processing Time

Visa processing can generally be divided into the following three situations:

Generally: Results will be available within 15 working days;

Normal expedited: Results are available in 3-5 working days;

Super expedited: Results available within 24 hours.

Therefore, when applying for a visa, you must do it according to your application time. If time is very tight, you must apply for an expedited application to avoid delaying your departure.

In general: no matter whether you are taking regular courses or language courses, you must deposit the visa guarantee deposit two months in advance according to the start time of the course.

It is recommended that you deposit the money in the Bank of China and open a time deposit certificate in your name for 3 months, with automatic transfer. After the money has been in the bank for 28 days, you can apply for a deposit certificate.

Because the deposit certificate is only valid for one month, we need to submit the visa materials to the visa center within this month.

III. Application Fees

The ordinary T4 student visa is 348 pounds (about 3116 yuan according to the latest exchange rate)

When applying for a visa, you also need to pay an insurance fee of 150 pounds (about 1,343 yuan)

After the visa is issued, the EMS express fee is 60 yuan: although it is more expensive than ordinary express delivery, it is very convenient. It can be sent directly home and there is no need to pick it up.

SMS notification of visa update status 15 yuan

In addition, you will need to pay a student health surcharge of £150 when applying. All fees can be paid online.

IV. Application Materials

According to the UK Home Office: From July 6, 2018, Chinese students applying for a UK Tier 4 student visa will no longer need to submit proof of financial resources, academic qualifications, and English proficiency; students can enjoy this policy even if they are not applying in their country of nationality! But it should be noted that not having to submit these materials does not mean that you do not meet these conditions. This means that when applying, you no longer need to submit these materials, but you still need to prepare materials such as deposits, academic qualifications, and language proficiency to prevent random inspections by the Immigration Bureau!

(1) Print out the online application form, sign your name and the date of submission. The signature should be consistent with the signature on the last page of your current passport;

(2) A color passport photo (white background, 45mm*35mm), directly pasted on the printed online application form;

(3) Current passport and copies of the first and last pages of the passport;

(4) Copies of the old passport and the first and last pages of the passport that has expired. If you do not have the old passport, this is not necessary;

(5) A printout of the email from the school containing the CAS number.

CAS is a confirmation letter issued by the university to students after they accept the offer from the university and pay the first tuition advance to reserve a place. Getting an offer from a university does not mean that students have been admitted to the university. Only after paying the tuition and getting the CAS can they be sure of being admitted.

5. UK study visa application process

Step 1: Fill out the online application form

First, we need to register and log in to the official website of the UK Visa Center to fill in and submit the visa application form online. After completing the form, we need to pay an application fee of 348 pounds and a medical surcharge of 150 pounds/year.

Step 2: Print and sign the application form

After completing the online application for studying abroad, you will receive an email containing an application number (i.e. "GWF reference number"); after submission, you need to print and sign the application form (the application form cannot be modified once submitted, so you need to ensure that the information is accurate before submission).

Step 3: Submit your visa application

On the scheduled date, bring all application materials to the visa application center in person to submit the application materials and admission biometric fingerprints; the materials needed to apply for T4 study abroad include online visa application form, valid passport, CAS number, tuberculosis certificate, academic certificate, English proficiency certificate, deposit certificate, etc.

There are 15 cities in China that can apply for British visas, including Beijing, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Changsha, Shenyang, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Jinan, Nanjing, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Kunming and Chongqing. You can choose the city closest to you to submit your visa application materials.

The UK visa center usually starts issuing numbers at 7:30 in the morning. After taking the number, you just need to wait patiently. When submitting your visa application, we also need to collect fingerprints and take photos, that is, collect biometric information. After this process is completed, our visa application process is generally over.

Step 4: Get your visa

After your visa application is processed, you can choose to go directly to the visa application center to collect your passport, or pay an additional fee to collect it by courier. You need to bring the receipt and a copy of your passport when collecting it. If you ask someone else to collect it on your behalf, the person collecting it on your behalf must present a power of attorney signed by you, your receipt and their own identity proof.

The British mainly eat pasta and meat, and they also eat rice. The ingredients in the supermarket are very fresh and the price is not very expensive, which is quite reasonable. There are many Chinese foods for sale in the Chinese supermarkets in the UK. If you can cook by yourself, you can have sufficient ingredients. You can buy electrical appliances, ingredients, seasonings and various Chinese kitchen supplies. Even if you don't want to cook but want to eat Chinese food, there are Chinese restaurants in every city in the UK, but eating Chinese food in the UK is relatively expensive. If you want to make friends, you can choose a 2-4 person room. Each student has a separate wardrobe. It is relatively free to find a house to live in outside the school. Of course, the rent is much more expensive than the dormitory. The rent in each city is different, depending on which city the school you choose is in. London is definitely more expensive. 1. Preparation before the interview

1. A thorough self-introduction

During the interview, the principal or teacher will generally introduce the school to the students, but the interview is not a one-way process of the school asking questions to the students. More importantly, it is a two-way interaction. You also need to introduce yourself to the school at appropriate opportunities, such as your strengths, personality, hobbies, academic performance, etc., which will also give the school more opportunities to get to know you. You can also prepare your resume, some award certificates, etc. in advance.

2. Related topics

The key to an interview is whether there are topics that can be discussed, but most of the questions in school interviews are very random. What should you do? You might as well start with the school. You can log in to the school's website to learn about the school's history, news, school introduction, courses, etc. On the one hand, this information can easily become a common topic for you to communicate with the school, and on the other hand, you can also find questions that interest you and ask the school. This can not only leave the school with the impression that you have done enough homework and are very interested in the school, but you can also get information about the school from the teacher or principal's answer, which will help you judge whether this school is suitable for you.

3. Your study abroad plan

When introducing yourself to the school, you can also introduce your study abroad plan. Whether it is the GCSE or A-Levels interview stage, the study abroad plan is very important.

If the interview is about GCSE, you can briefly introduce the courses you studied in China and what courses you hope to study in the UK.

If the interview is for A-Levels, in addition to talking about your course selection, you can also briefly introduce your ideas about future university majors and careers.

2. Issues that need attention during the interview

1. Never cheat

Whether it is a telephone interview or a video interview, once the school discovers cheating, the result will definitely be that the student will be rejected.

2. Have a good attitude and relax

Many students will inevitably be nervous during the interview. Students should adjust their mentality and attend the interview in a relatively relaxed state of mind. If you feel nervous during the interview and it affects your expression, you can pause and take a few deep breaths to adjust yourself, and try not to let nervousness control your interview.

3. Don’t pretend to know something you don’t

British schools attach great importance to students' integrity. Students may encounter questions in the interview that they do not understand or cannot answer. If this happens, you can ask the interviewer or ask him to repeat the question. If you really encounter a question that you do not know the answer to, you can directly explain your situation. Do not pretend to know the answer and answer irrelevant questions.
